Harrogate Town’s Front Runner picks up Volunteer Gong

The Harrogate Town AFC Community Foundation were thrilled to hear that Town Runner’s Steve Pattison was named Sports Volunteer of the Year 2019 at the Harrogate and District Volunteer Oscars.

 

Steve who has been so instrumental in the start up of the Harrogate Town AFC was recently presented with his award at a weekly Town to 5K session at the CNG Stadium from Community Development Manager Iain Service.

 

Since becoming a qualified run leader Steve has encouraged and motivated members of the Community and those associated with Harrogate Town AFC to be healthier and join a special ‘Town to 5K’ Run group. After their 12 week programme that Steve wholeheartedly supported with, members participated in their first ever Park Run. Members have also lost a considerable amount of weight and have genuinely changed their life. Steve’s positivity, energy and level of commitment has been truly inspirational.
Steve comments, “I am seriously shocked by the nomination and the award, I didn’t expect any recognition its not why I got involved! Hopefully the award will help to raise awareness of community based activities and see more people accessing our Town Running Club”.

 

Iain Service – Harrogate Town AFC Community Development Manager is full of praise, “We would like to thank Steve for all his efforts and the time he has given up to help improve local people’s physical and mental wellbeing. He does deserve some recognition and hopefully more people will see the fantastic work being carried out within the Harrogate Town AFC Community Foundation.

Celebration Park Run – Saturday 7th December 2019

Why not join our Town Runners for a special Harrogate Town AFC Park Run on Saturday 7th December. Members of Harrogate Town AFC 1st team staff and running club members will be completing the run in celebration of our 2nd Town to 5K group.
